The raindrop

From the clouds, the place of my birth
I fall softly towards the waiting earth
No vision of the land below, I see
I wonder where this life will lead me.

Will I perish on the hot desert sand?
Or bring hope to a parched, barren land?
Perhaps I'll be lost in the vast, vast sea,
One among a million, what then will I be?

A pleasant path, a life of ease
A pristine drop glistening the leaves
Or to tread on thorns, to tire and bleed
Struggle vainly in an attempt to succeed.

The land approaches swiftly, the time draws near
To rein in my thoughts, to forget my fears
To brace the winds, to hope and wait
And unfold in time, the wings of fate.

As my life flies by, it whispers it's song
The truth of life I'd known all along
That it matters not from where I start
If I just keep moving, with all my heart.

For in this vast world, no path is too tough
No land is too hard, no sea is too rough
And as written in fate's decree
The very soul of this world I can be.

The dew on the shrubs, the sap in the trees
I can be the rivers, I can be the seas
I can live in the darkness, or thrive in the light
I am nothing, yet, I can be infinite.
