Who would you rather be?

Would you rather be Beauty
Of infinite grace?
Or the cursed Beast
With the hideous face.

To shine in the spotlight
Of the world's eyes,
Or to cringe in the darkness
And drown in your cries.

To be held in esteem
On a pedestal high,
Or to be crushed by the footsteps
Of every passerby.

To reap the benefits
Of nature's own gift,
Or to accept the spirits
And their judgement swift.

To be wary of the moment
The charm fades away,
Or to find security
In the truth every day.

To question the fidelity
Of every love anew,
Or to wait for the warmth
Of the precious few.

To be adored briefly
As a passing star
Or to be loved dearly
For who you truly are

Would you rather be Beauty
With turmoil on her mind?
Or the cursed Beast
With truth on his side.
